Susanna Deviney Travis and her husband, William, built their romantic relationship around their shared love of music. When it came time to plan a baby shower for Susanna, who was expecting twin boys, it was natural to plan a shower around music and boy themes. Duling Hall, a music hall, seemed the perfect venue for the shower.

Emily Ferguson, a designer with KPEP, created a precious double-sided invitation that announced twins with two bowties on the front and a guitar on the back, using a “shake, rattle and roll” theme. From there, the ideas kept coming.

In lieu of the traditional baby blue theme, the yellow, grey and turquoise color palate was something fun and unique. We found a great gold and white chevron print from Premier Fabrics. From that print, we made table runners for the gift and cake tables, as well as the main guest table.

I met with Molly Gee Designs to talk bowties. Gee’s custom baby bowties are perfect for little men and their daddies. The ties go very nicely on Sunday best outfits, or even attached to onesies. For the shower, we attached the bowties to the onesies and strung them together as a backdrop prop, which was an instant hit.

Wendy Putt of Fresh Cut Catering and Floral brought her creative ideas for the food, including bowtie pasta and décor that pulled everything together perfectly.

Maria DeLabara, The Cake Diva, showed off her great talent with the perfect two-tier cake, complete with a guitar and bowties to match the theme.

The tables were set with turquoise napkins, and pacifiers were used as napkin rings. Guitars from Susanna and William’s personal collection filled in as props, and guitar cases were used to hold glasses at the beverage table.
